This quite unique thatched structure is perched in the Bog of Allen in County Kildare, Ireland. It was a bespoke build with the design being dreamt up on the spot by several heads. It is used as a nature observation building by visitors to Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park.

Since this image was taken the bog surrounding the structure is flourishing with new life. The flora and fauna of this peatland landscape are as dramatic as its history. Depending on the time of year, look out for insect-eating plants like sundew, frogs, newts, dragonflies and many species of water birds and butterflies as well as a whole host of other wonderful plants and creatures.

The building was thatched by Mike Davies.
